Korean Minister of Health visits SMC-INDEX in Dubai

An official delegation from the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare headed by the Minster Dr. Chin Soo Hee, paid a visit to the Samsung Medical Center in Collaboration with INDEX Holding (SMC-INDEX), located in the Dubai Health Care City.

H.E. Dr. Chin Soo Hee was accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Health along with high ranking officials from SMC in South Korea, and she was received by Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani – President of INDEX Holding and representatives from INDEX, and SMC-INDEX Dubai. Mr. Al Madani welcomed the Korean delegation from Seoul and confirmed his commitment to ensure the success of the relationship between Samsung Medical Center and INDEX Holding.

The medical facilities of the Samsung Medical Center in South Korea consists of three hospitals with a capacity of 4,000 beds including 700 beds for cancer cases in addition to specialized centers for Organ Transplant, Cardiac & Vascular Treatment, Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Digestive System, Diabetes and all medical specialties. The Samsung Medical Center was founded in 1994 while the Samsung Comprehensive Cancer Center was launched in 2008.


Dr. Chin Soo Hee assured that all Samsung hospitals and medical centers stand ready to provide advanced medical services to all cases transferred from Dubai, as Samsung is keen to have a prominent role in the medical sector in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Region and the Arab World.

After concluding her tour of SMC-INDEX, H.E. stated that “It was an excellent decision to have a branch for Samsung Medical Center here in Dubai; it is a step to expand our cooperation in the field of Health Care in the region. We are planning to expand the Korean medical institutions in the Gulf region and the Middle East.”

“Health Care is a very active sector that can be mutually beneficial to both countries. Patients from the UAE can be transferred to Korea for medical treatment, which is an effort to improve the Health Care system and quality of medical services,” Continued H.E.

Mr. Al Madani expressed his appreciation to the Minister and the Korean delegation and said that “Such investment reflected the foreign trust in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and in the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE. SMC-INDEX was initiated by INDEX Holding under the patronage of the Dubai Health Authority, and is a new achievement added to the ongoing successes in the medical sector in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.”

Mr. Al Madani said, “INDEX Holding has an excellent relationship with south Korea, as we have an office there which has been operational for over 5 years. Through our presence in Seoul, we are trying to bring more investment to the UAE. The Korean medical and health service is so advanced; therefore we have worked along with the Dubai Health Authority to bring Korea’s top medical center to Dubai, in order to provide excellent medical services to the UAE residents.”

At the end of the visit, the Minister and the Korean delegation thanked Mr. Al Madani and the staff working at SMC-INDEX for their hospitality, and looking forward for future cooperation in different fields between the two countries in the future.
