His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Inaugurates the 6th Edition of The Big Entertainment Show

Dubai – United Arab Emirates, November 18th, 2013: His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority inaugurated today the sixth edition of the Big Entertainment Show (BES) which is held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The BES embraces three specialized events: the Dubai International Brand and Licensing Fair, Dubai World Game Expo and MYCONTENT.

His Highness then toured around the exhibition area where he was introduced to over 120 local and international companies participating from 55 countries. Companies participating in the BES this year represent the fields of online games, cartoon characters, animation, and a number of TV production companies, broadcasters, film producers, mobile and Digital content providers, trade companies, game developers, and application developers.

His Highness was delighted by the success of the (BES) which has remarkable participation this year from South Korea, China, KSA, Mexico, Malaysia, Russia, Lebanon, Jordan, Hong Kong, Egypt, Germany, Portugal, India, UK, Turkey, USA, Japan and of course participation from the UAE.

The Big Entertainment Show has become the largest show in the Middle East region specialized in Media and TV content, Character and Brand Licensing, Game Developing and Publishing and trading. The UAE has a big share in this industry and was ranked 5th largest in the Middle East for internet usage.

Mr. Tariq Al Madani, Managing Director of INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions – member of INDEX Holding indicated that the BES recorded massive success in the past five years, and this is a promising indicator for the success of this industry and its prosperity in the region. “The online gaming industry is booming. The number of internet users in the Middle East reached $70 Million this year, and is expected to reach $150 in 2015. Moreover, the revenues from the online gaming industry in the Middle East reached $100 Million this year compared to $70 Million last year. Statistics also indicate that there are 2.89 million Arabic gamers playing on Facebook every month while the total number of Facebook users in the Middle East reached 24 million.” said Mr. Tariq

“Demand of quality TV content is also on the rise. With over 600 channels and over 90 million households, the Arab viewer is becoming very selective with the type and quality of content they want to see. That is pushing major TV producers and broadcasters to strive and get the best productions on TV”

A new exciting character launched at this year’s show is AL MUKTASHEF AL SAGHEER, designed and produced to enrich the early learning years of Arab children. Speaking on behalf of the project, Bushra Al Rahoomi, said “AL MUKTASHEF AL SAGHEER, or “Little Explorer” will educate children about Arabic culture and heritage through immersive and interactive tools that will instill a lifelong interest in learning and compliment children’s inquisitive nature by giving them the tools to embark on the exciting path of discovery in a digital age.”

The event’s agenda also features a number of activities including the Middle East Game Developers Summit, the Entertainment Content Summit and the Licensing Seminar. More than 50 international speakers will present their latest theories and research in those fields. The summits will bring forth recommendations to tackle challenges and changes in this evolving industry. The sessions will create an excellent platform for businessmen, investors, and leaders of this industry to interact and discuss the latest updates and productions at a time where the worldwide market for entertainment content is growing at a very fast pace, including the Middle East Market.

The three seminars will present new techniques and updates in the industry. Topics such as: current Trends in drama production in the Arab world, basics of licensing and game development tools will be the main highlights of the first day.

دبي – الامارات العربية المتحدة، 18 نوفمبر 2013: افتتح اليوم سمو الشيخ ماجد بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، رئيس هيئة دبي للثقافة والفنون الدورة السادسة من المعرض الترفيهي الشامل (BES) والذي يقام في مركز دبي الدولي للمؤتمرات والمعارض. الذي يضم كل من معرض دبي الدولي للشخصيات الكرتونية والتراخيص ومعرض دبي العالمي للألعاب الإلكترونية، ومعرض المحتوى.

وتجول سموه في أرجاء المعرض الذي يضم أكثر من 120 شركة محلية وعالمية مشاركة من 55 دولة، وتتخصص هذه الشركات في قطاعات الألعاب الإلكترونية وألعاب الإنترنت والشخصيات الكرتونية ورسوم الكاريكاتير وعدد من مؤسسات الانتاج التلفزيوني وصناعة الأفلام وتلفزيون الجوال وصناعة المحتوى الرقمي والمحتوى الإعلامي والشركات التجارية العاملة في مجال التوزيع الفني ومطوري الألعاب الالكترونية والرقمية وألعاب الهاتف الجوال.

وأثنى سموه على نجاح المعرض الترفيهي الشامل الذي يعتبر المعرض المتخصص الأول من نوعه في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، ويشهد المعرض هذا العام مشاركة كبيرة من كوريا الجنوبية و الصين والمملكة العربية السعودية وماليزيا وروسيا ولبنان والأردن وهونج كونج ومصر والمانيا والبرتغال والهند والمملكة المتحدة وتركيا والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية واليابان بالاضافة الى الشركات المشاركة من دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة.

ويتخصص المعرض الذي يعتبر الأكبر من نوعه في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، بالمحتوى التلفزيوني والاعلامي، والشخصيات الكرتونية والتراخيص، وتطوير الالعاب والنشر والتجارة. حيث تحتل دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة مركزاً متقدماً في هذا القطاع وتحتل المركز الخامس في استخدام الانترنت في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.

وأشار السيد طارق المدني، المدير التنفيذي لشركة اندكس لتنظيم المؤتمرات والمعارض – عضو في اندكس القابضة، الى النجاحات التي حققها المعرض خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية مما يشير الى نجاح هذا القطاع ومكانته في أسواق المنطقة. وأضاف السيد طارق: “يعتبر قطاع العاب الانترنت من أكثر القطاعات نمواً وازدهاراً في المنطقة، حيث وصل عدد الأفراد الذين يستخدمون الانترنت لللعب أكثر من 70 مليون دولار العام الماضي. وتشير الاحصائيات أيضاً الى أن هناك أكثرمن 2.98 مليون لاعب عربي يلعبون عن طريق الFacebook كل شهر بينما بلغ عدد مستخدمي ال Facebook في منطقة الشرق الأوسط 24 مليون مستخدم.”

وأضاف السيد طارق: “هناك زيادة في الطلب على المحتوى الاعلامي الجيد، فبوجود أكثر من 600 محطة تلفزيونية ووجود أكثر من 90 مليون أسرة، أصبح المشاهد العربي أكثر انتقاءً للبرامج التي يشاهدها من حيث النوع والجودة. وهو ما أدى الى وجود التنافسية بين المنتجين لجذب وتقديم الأبرز والأفضل للمحطات التلفزيونية.”

“نحن ندرك أهمية هذا القطاع فقد كنا أول من اهتم به والتفت الى المستقبل الباهر الذي يخفيه هذا القطاع، ولذلك فقد كانت دبي أول مدينة عربية تستضيف معرضاً متخصصاُ بالمحتوى الاعلامي والتراخيص والالعاب في الشرق الوسط” أضاف السيد طارق المدني.

تم خلال عرض هذا العام اطلاق الشخصية ” المكتشف الصغير” المصممة خصيصاً لتنمية التعليم المبكر عند الأطفال في العالم العربي. في هذا الاطار، قالت السيدة بشرى الرحومي ان شخصية المكتشف الصغير ستساعد الأطفال على تعلم المزيد عن الحضارة والتراث العربي من خلال ادوات تفاعلية من شأنها ان تخلق اهتمام متفاعل للتعلم ضمن طبيعة الأطفال الفطرية الباحثة عن الجديد حيث ان شخصية “المكتشف الصغير” تمنح أداة مذهلة للاستكشاف في عصرنا الرقمي هذا.

وتضم أجندة المؤتمرعدداً من الفعاليات والجلسات المتخصصة ضمن ثلاث من أبرز جلسات المناقشات وهي: قمة دبي العالمية للألعاب الإلكترونية وقمة المحتوى الترفيهي وندوة الترخيص. ويحاضر في تلك الجلسات أكثر من 50 متحدث عالمي يقومون بطرح أبرز أعمالهم وخبراتهم في هذه المجالات. وتقوم هذه الجلسات باخراج التوصيات التي من شأنها مواجهة التحديات التي تتطرق لها هذه الصناعة المتطورة. وستقوم هذه الجلسات أيضاً بخلق منصة مثالية لرجال الأعمال والمستثمرين والرواد في هذه الصناعة للالتقاء والتفاعل مع بعضهم البعض ومناقشة آخر التطورات والانتاجات لهذه الصناعة في وقت تزدهر فيه صناعة وأسواق المحتوى الترفيهي في العالم بسرعة خيالية، بما فيها أسواق منطقة الشرق الأوسط.

وستقوم تلك الفعاليات بتقديم أبرز التقنيات الحديثة في هذه الصناعه، وتشمل المواضيع: الأساليب الحديثة المتبعة في انتاج الدراما في العالم العربي، أساسيات الترخيص وأدوات تطوير الألعاب، والتي ستكون الأبرز خلال اليوم الأول.
